We, the Associated Student Body would like to dedicate our 1959-60 Redside Yearbook in memory of Donnie Brown. He was on our School Board and took an active interest in our school sports and other activities. This dedication is in honor of him and others who have devoted their time, money, and interest to our school and its 2 activities.

With the passing of time, the echoes of our school life will grow fainter and fainter, and then die away. Gone forever will be the routine of school life, the fun we had, and the friends we made. faculty OREGON HISTORY SHER ART BRIDGE ON THIS SITE THE ANCIENT INDIAN TRAIL CROSSED THE DESCHUTtS RIVER WHERE THE EARLIEST PIONEERS FLOATED THEIR WAGONS. THE FIRST BRIDGE WAS BUILT BY JOHN Y TODD IN 1660. IN 1868 THE FIRST POST OFFICE IN WASCO COUNTY WAS ESTABLISHED. J. H. SHERAJT ACQUIRED THE PROPERTY SOON AFTERWARDS AND CONSTRUCTED A 13 ROOM HOTEL AND LIVERY STABLE AND IMPROVED THE TOLL ROAD ON BOTH SIDES OF THE DESCHUTES CANYON. HE MAINTAINED THE ROAD WITH INDIAN LABOR FROM BAKEO,VEN TO THE DALLES. SlIERAR’S BRIDGE AND TOLL ROAD WAS THE GATEWAY TO THE VAST TERRITORY OF CENTRAL OREGON. THE BUILDING OF THE RAILROADS THROUGH THE DESCHUTES CANYON IN 1911 ENDED THE IMPORTANCE OF SHERAR'S BRIDGE AND THE ROAD WAS LITTLE USED UNTIL THE RECONSTRUCTION OF THE HIGHWAY IN RECENT YEARS.
