Glee Club President......................LaVonne Alsup Vice-President..................Marcia McLeod Secretary............Betty Jo Chastain Librarian....................Opal Cox The Glee Club meets Tuesday and Thursday of every week with an enrollment of 25 girls and 8 boys under the direction of Mrs. Gladys Monger. At the first meeting the officers were elected. The Glee Club presented a play entitled, When the Angels Sang”, at the Christmas program. The cast was: The Shepherd...............Mae Walters The Old Man...........Leland Mayhew The Thief.............Kieth DeCourcy Mary.........................Opal Cox The Angel.............Dorcas Crabtree The Glee Club is planning to attend the County Music Festival this year and to present an operetta entitled, The Family Doctor . Yell Queens The yell queens, Jeanne Mayhew and Mae Walters, were elected for the school year of '38 and '39 and were reelected for the year '39 and '40, by the student-body of Maupin High School. Their duties were to direct the pep-sessions and to lead the yells and songs at games and rallies. The student body showed their appreciation for the work that they have done by buying them season tickets to the tournament. The new members this year are: Mary Hammer, LaVonne Alsup, Opal Cox and Sophie Boen. Maupin Hi-Life The Maupin Hi-Life, the monthly publication of the Maupin High School, was begun three years ago under the direction of Miss Kaiser, who has continued as cur adviser. The first two years the paper was published, the editors and assistant editors were: Wesley Ross, Jean McCorkle, Gerry Peters and Gertrude Kirsch.
