--4 CAPTAIN ROBERT E. AMOS Robert E. AMOS, the son of Mr. and Mrs. james F. Lefler of Bluefield, Virginia, graduated from the Viftigniig Polytechnic Institute in 1959 with a BS in General Science, and was employed as a teacher and adm1I11Sf9a the public schools of the Commonwealth of Virginia prior to earning his commission in the U.S. Navi' In November 1963. Following tours of duty in USS COCHRANE and USS GOODRICH, Captain AMOS attended thedNa1fil Postgraduate School, receiving the Master of Science Degree in Oceanography. During a one year tour of UW1 the Republic of Vietnam, Captain AMOS served as OIC of the Naval Advisory Team Vinh Long- He was subsequently assigned as Executive Officer of USS VESOLE. Captain AMOS served with the Federal German Navy from 1975-1979 as an Instructor at the Naval WGHPUHS School and as a student at the German Combined Staff College in Hamburg, Germany. Upon his return to t. 9 United States in October 1979, he reported aboard USS BRYCE CANYON, serving as Executive Officer until HS decommissioning in June 1981.
