The editor came to us this noon And said, The Weathervane is due very soon. So we got out our paper and pencils, too, To write this poem direct to you. About events throughout the year And all the things that happened here. For four full years we have eagerly waited, Counting the days 'till we graduated. Hard we worked, that is true, And hardly could wait 'till we were through. So before we get up to go, There are a few things you ought to know. Mind your teachers and don't be bad, Although you'll miss the fun we had. And study all day, but have fun, too, While learning your lessons all year through. And here is a plan that we suggest. You don't have to do it, but we think it best. Have school in session twelve months a year And twelve hours a day. Now, is that clear? All this, of course, should be started After we have already departed. So out the front door quickly we'll pass, And leave Maumee Valley to the Iunior Class. The Class of 1947 I Give: Our domestic ability to Iulie Crandall. Our Vodka to the faculty meetings. Our subtle sense of humor and class unity to the Iuniors. Our love of tranquility to the Freshmen. Our onions to Mary. Our Dorothy Dix clippings to the Sopho- rnores. Our empty vocabulary blue-books to Mrs. Otwell. Our books to Duff for fuel. ' Our hearts to Young and Gay Mr. Coryell. Take: Ruth Wieting's voice for Helen. Lynn Olwin's vocabulary for Peggy. Mr. Charles's comb for Patty. Paula, second lack the Snippet, takes Ioan Meloy's long hair. Marcia will take some of Ann Kirk's shyness. Ann will take some money for a ticket to Muncie from whoever will offer it. Carol will take Horton. Will: Carol wills her dirty locker to Lynne Morris. Peggy wills her telephone to Gayl. Marcia wills her athletic ability to Io Iohnson. Ann wills her hunting license to Sue l..ay in hopes that she has as much luck in getting her deer tBuck, that isl as Ann did. Helen leaves her regular t?l attendance to Sally Krapp. Paula leaves her long walk to the bus to Nancy Corbett. Patty leaves her conference with Wille and Percy to the lucky Iuniors. 25
