Track TRACK This year's Saber Track Team, alThough inexperi- enced and small in number, did noT lack deTermina- Tion and spiriT. Under The guidance oT RudolT Souza and Tom Kiyosaki, The Saber Thin-clads worked hard To make This a mosT successTul Track season. The Track Team was led by capTain, AlTredo Domingo, our sTar hurdler and Three-sporT leTTerman. Maui l-ligh's TirsT vicTory clame in The Lincoln Day Cross-CounTry Race in which James Almeida repeaTed his perTormance oT lasT year as he copped TirsT place honors in The open division. This year's cross-counTry race had a new rouTe Trom Waikapu TheaTer To Maui Pine Cannery which is a disTance oT 4.7 miles. The 27Th annual Freshman Track and Tield meeT was held in Lahaina on March I5 wiTh Maui l-ligh winning Two blue ribbons and placing TourTh in The Team sTandings wiTh Twelve poinTs. Roy Akamine easily won The pole vaulT evenT by soaring To a heighT oT 8 TeeT, 8lf2 inches. John ConsTanTino also won a field evenT as he Took The high iump wiTh a leap oT 5 TeeT, 3 inches. On Wednesday, March I9, The.TirsT dual Track and Tield meeT was held beTween ST. AnThony and Maui l-ligh aT The Kahului Fairgrounds. The Saber TracksTers were soundly beaTen by The 5ainTs, al- Though iT was a no poinT dual meeT. The Troians won every evenT excepT The IZO-yard low hurdles which was won by our own AlTredo Domingo in I4 seconds TlaT. AlTredo also placed second in The IOO- yard dash. Richard Abreu was Tied Tor TirsT place wiTh AlTred Perry OT The 5ain'Ts in The high jump wiTh a leap OT 5 TeeT, 6 inches. Added aTTracTion aT This year's Track meeT Tea- Tured girls Trom Ml-lS and LHS who parTicipaTed in The 50-yard dashes and 220-yard medley relays.
