STANDING: Miss Ford-Sponsor. FOREWORD IT'S FINISHED - The 1971 Tigers Roar is in your hands! It's theme is simple - A Look at the 1970-71 School Year. As every school year must, this one has come to an end. All the football, basketball, and baseball games are over - some won, some lost! The last report cards have been given out - NO MORE TESTS!! Attending class and club meetings, pep assemblies, and simply goofing-off in the halls are over! The school song has been sung for the last time! Class parties, play rehearsals, banquets, proms, and graduation exercises are memories by now! These great moments are now a part of history. It has been said that no one can turn back the clock and relive a moment, but maybe YOU can! The yearbook staff has tried to cap- ture on the following pages some of these moments that made up the 1970-71 school year. One year or ten years from now, you CAN turn back the clock and take a look at this year at MHS. IT WAS A VERY GOOD YEAR!! 3 DEDICATION Teachers are remembered by students in many ways. It is our belief that Mrs. Violet Burton will be remembered by her former stu- dents as a truly great teacher. Her deep sense of loyalty, honesty, and sincerity will never be forgotten. As a teacher at Maud Public Schools, Mrs. Burton has inspired the respect and devotion of all the students she has taught. She has always been eager to help her stu- dents both in and out of the classroom. It is out of gratitude for service that we dedicate the 1971 Tigers Roar to Mrs. Violet Burton. 4 V. A. COLEMAN Man is a bundle of habits. Early in life you formulate a pattern of activities and the longer that you practice these the more they become a part of you. A wise person schedules his time for the activ- ities that he is to undertake. He disciplines himself in carrying out his activities. In the case of the stu- dent, he plans a part of his day for studying and pre- paration of his lessons for the ensuing day. While you are in high school you must plan your activities to allow yourself time for extra activities, but the basic subjects should always come first. This will necessitate you planning your daily program. It is often said that the difference in success and failure as a student or in the business world is how you uti- lize your time. Let us keep in mind to utilize our time in a constructive manner for yourself, your community, your state and your nation. Superintendent HE THAT GOVERNS WELL LEADS THE BLIND, BUT HE THAT TEACHES GIVES THEM EYES. V A. R. MURRAY 6 The greatest job of this generation is to raise a better generation. You are continually working with the world's most important potential - youth. These young people have problems now, and they will meet problems which you and I know nothing about. Our task is not to solve these problems for them, but to teach them to solve problems. These students of yours about to vote, about to marry and become parents of those for whom all human en- deavor exists, about to meet the terrific pressures which place so many in mental hospitals and so many more in mediocrity and frustration, they come to you to be prepared for life. They need knowl- edge, they need dreams, yours is the opportunity of helping them to fulfill that dream” Principal BOARD OF EDUCATION Mrs. Sandi Ryan, Sec.; Mr. Floyd Akin; Mr. Warren Bodkin; Mr. V.
