The lonely corridors fill once again with chatter, laughter, and tears. To only a few this is just a school. To most of us, this is a place of learning how to laugh at ourselves, cry together, and ask each others forgiveness after hasty words have been spoken. Because of our many friends and helpful teachers, we will be able to remember our high school days witf joy and pride. Paul Waltman, Harold Swarb, Warren Bodkin, Leroy Strickland, V. A. Coleman, Edwin Stone, and Billye Morris. BOARD OF EDUCATION Education is a scientific experiment designed by our ancestors for the benefit of their children. Not every idea, which has been advocated for the improvement of education, has proved to be a success. No doubt we will always be laboring with weird ideas which may not turn out well but this is necessary if we are to separate the wheat from the chaff. Some carefully thought out op- position to any idea makes it grow stronger, but misguided obstinacy only delays the coming of great solutions which bring better days for all people. Public education is one of those ideas which has survived the test of time and opposition. We believe that one should search for truth, and urge all good men everywhere to keep their best efforts active to encourage an unencumbered system of free public schools. V. A. COLEMAN Superintendent It is, and has always been, a primary goal of parents and schools to teach children to be in- dependent and proud. We sometimes tend to over- look the importance of also teaching the accept- ance of responsibilities. Independence carries with it tremendous obligations which are being accepted by our youth today in a way in which we as adults can be proud. We, as adults, like to think that our youths are dependent upon us, but we are all. to a certain degree, dependent upon them and their ability to accept the responsibilities we have placed upon them. To this end, we, the faculty and administration, extend our appreciation for our youngsters of whom we are very proud. JON R.
