DEDICATION Where there is no vision, the people perish Proverbs 29:11 The Seniors of 1971 dedicate this annual to a man who has displayed vision - a vision of what Maud School could be like, aid today we see the fruition of that vision. He not only had a vision, but the courage and tenacity to work to bring it about. His efforts have been untiring, but too often unsung. So now may we express our appreciation, sing your praises and dedicate our efforts to you - Mr, F, E. Cooley Inspiring students to achieve their maximum potential is one of Mr. Cooley's pet aims. ililvm 1 He shows his appreciation for the achievements of his stu- dents by attending various performances such as the spring concert. Mr. Cooley shares with Mr. Hogan some of his new hope: and new dreams. ff . 1 1 . FORTY-FIVE YEARS OF CONTINUOUS GROWTH When Mr. Cooley came to Maud in 1926, the school consisted of a one story building which was built in 1922. Five teachers made up the faculty with a total of 30 students. Under his administration, an annex was added in 1933, housing the homemak- ing and agriculture departments. As the enrollment increased, more teachers were added and more space was needed. A gymnasium was added in 1939, followed by the elementary building in 1940. The school's first hot lunch program was initiated when the cafeteria was added in 1947. ln 1941, the agriculture building was built with an addition in 1963, The hom emaking department was moved to a remodeled cottage in 1955. In 1957, a band hall was built and a band teach- er was added to the staff. A modern high school building was constructed in 1966 followed in 1969 by an addition equal in size to the original construction. In the summer of 1970 a kindergarten building was added and forty-three five year olds joined the school system. Thus, under the skillful administration of Mr. Cooley, our physical plant has grown from a one story building in 1926 to a nine building campus plus a football field nearing completion. The school district now employs three adminis- trators, twenty-four teachers, and ten other em- ployees who further the education of the 560 students now enrolled. 1. Gymnasium 4. Band Hall 7.
