The parade, pep assembly, floats, and enthusiasm of the Green Wave fans all lured the Danville players to their downfall, for this was Homecom- ing, and mayhem was our rule. The Senior Class had the right combination to cop first place for the prettiest float entered in the parade, as did the Junior Class which placed first in the cleverest division. Best wishes from Smiths' Machine Shop. Our third annual Homecoming Queen, Miss Thalia Brandenburg, was crowned in a different fashion this year than from the past two years. The Queen and her Court were presented to the football fans during the half of the Mattoon-Danville game. They entered the field riding in Cadillac chariots and were dressed in flowing gowns, They made their appearance again at the Homecoming dance, where Jim Branson, our football captain, crowned Miss Thalia as our i956 Homecoming Queen.
