Our Prom How difficult it is to de- termine exactly what contrib- uted most to making our Prom such a memorable affair! A first kiss..........the punch .... or perhaps it was simply a number of little things . . . for a boy, a flirtatious glance from Scarlett O'Hara. For a girl, it might have been an ar- duous gaze from a dashing Rhett Butler. Perhaps it was that magical moon, a luminary disc lovely against the black void of the deep May night. Or was it the hilarious con- fusion of the traditional Grand March . . . the uninhib- ited laughter emanating from a furious Mexican Hat Dance? . . . The soft radiance of a lovely queen, the winsome glances of the nine runners- up, or the suppressed laughter at Dwight's magnificent stum- ble as he mounted the steps to crown the queen? Whatever it is that plays an important part in each of our personaf memories of that Prom, one thing is painfully certain . . . that those joyous times, like those of the merri- ment at Tara, will all too soon be Gone With the Wind . 8

In charge of the largest senior class ever to grad- uate from our school, the senior officers had a job just to know who was a senior. Carrying on the busi- ness of the class increased as its size increased. Even finding a platform large enough for graduation exer- cises became a problem of major proportion. Hordes of cooperative students lightened the load of the of- ficers and kept the machine operating smoothly. The senior class can acknowledge with honest pride their part in bringing Mattituck High School new glory through a renewed interest in academic achievement and a vigorous school spirit. DWIGHT D. LINDER, President MICHAEL J. CORtESE, Vice President Senior Class Officers LYNN HAAS, Treasurer JUDY CICHANOWICZ, Secretary
