The Van Buren Skills Center offers training and education in areas ranging from business to construction. Attending the Skills Center can take the place of a college education, or it can be a valuable supplement to college. On the job training is often provided through either working in the coop program, or receiving a job placement for after school or weekends. Students who attend the Skills Center feel that it is an excellent opportunity to get a head start in the job market. P.M. Students

What It Takes Many students see band as an easy ''A or a cop-out class. Well, they are wrong. The Mattawan Band members make many sacrifices for this class. They give up their extra time for monotonous practices such as early morning sectionals, evening practices, summer practices that last for weeks and go all day, and of course their own personal, motivated practice.! Why do they do all this? It's for the excitement of competition and performing, for the great feeling of personal and team accomplishment. It's also for the thrill of winning and being their best. Each member gets out exactly what they put in and more. It really takes a special kind of person to be a devoted member of this wonderful class.
