place. Our class officers this year were John Kucinich — President, Connie Wegeler — Vice President, Sherrie Hunt — Secretary, Curtis Ferrell — Treasurer, Mike Ryan — Trustee, and our advisor was Mrs. Kennedy. Although our accomplishments seemed to be few and far between, we did somehow manage to get ourselves out of debt by the end of the year. Things were beginning to look up. Our Junior year seemed to be a great turning point for all of us. Our budget took its first major leap after our magazine sale, and it steadily rose due to our concession stand. We were backed up by many advisors to help us through our difficult times, namely Miss Evans, Mrs. Kennedy, Mr. Coady, and Mr. Creegan. Our class officers were: Curtis Ferrell — President, John Kucinich — Vice President, Sherrie Hunt — Secretary, Rich Nederhoed — Treasurer, and Mike Ryan — Trustee. Our Snoopy float titled ‘‘Tear ’Em Up Cats” brought us 3rd place which, for us, was one step upward. Our budget managed to stay in remarkably good shape even after our last project, the Prom. Our theme was ‘‘Come Sail Away” and it was hopefully an occasion that the 79 graduates will never forget. At last we finally became the long awaited Seniors. We finally accomplished the task of building a Homecoming float by actually winning the float competitions with our theme “Gun Em Down” (a surprisingly happy ending to our float history). Our next goal was to raise enough money through three fund raisers for our overnight trip to Toronto. We elected as our class officers: Anne Drag-icevich — President, Gary Nitz — Vice President, Linda Hanson — Secretary, Kelly Bowman — Treasurer, and Debbie Farris — Trustee. Our sincere gratitude goes to our sponsors Mr. Cretsinger and Mr. Williams whose guidance and advice we could not have survived without. As we approach the final stages of our “membership” at Mattawan High School, we turn back with many memories and extreme gratitude to all who have helped to make our journey so fulfilling. We shall soon, once again, hesitantly walk through the main doors at M.H.S., but this time each of us will take the separate paths to our future.

We elected our first class officers who were John Kucinich — President, Sharri MacCartney — Secretary, Sherrie Hunt — Treasurer, and Mike Ryan — Trustee. Our sponsors, Miss Tenney and Mrs. Norton helped us through some of our “tragic” experiences such as our Homecoming float which was a rather unique Cinderella carriage (a football). We titled this creation “Carry Us to Victory.” Instead, it carried us to 4th place and left us about $40 in debt. Even so, we somehow managed to leave carrying high hopes for the next year. The summer went quickly, and we were soon considered Sophomores. We were no longer the shortest students found wandering aimlessly through the halls. Yet although we were continuously growing, our wisdom somehow seemed to be temporarily “stunted.” The profits from the dance we sponsored were found mysteriously lost, which proved to be quite unfortunate for our class treasury. Our Homecoming Float was titled “A Star is Born” (or hatched!?). Its funeral took place shortly after it awarded us with another 4th 18
