SEATED: R. Savage, N. Coburn, L. Dion, R. Whitten. S. Gilpatrick, A. Steeves, W. Hamilton. STANDING: D. Hall, C. Sutherland, G. Noddin, H. Clay, B. Moody, D. Moody, D. Brown. Student Council The first meeting of the Student Council was held September 9, 1958, with Sally Gilpatrick presiding. Other officers were Ronda Savage, Vice President; Rita Whit- ten, Secretary. The two main projects of the Student Council were sponsoring the annual Winter Carnival and revising the Mattanawcook Academy Handbook. The Council worked hard to make both of these projects a success. A minor project, also sponsored by the Student Council, was dancing at noon. This dancing, after having been dis- continued for a few years, was very well attended and proved to be a big success. Natalie Coburn, Ronda Savage, and Rita Whitten attended the State Student Council Convention held at Deering High School in Portland. They gained many good ideas, which they presented to the M. A. Student Council. At last year’s regional Student Council Convention, Rita Whitten was elected First Vice President. We attended the regional convention again this year, after having been changed to the Northern District.
