The Senior Assembly began at 9:00 a.m. Many Seniors received awards, certificates and scholarships from economic clubs and organizations in the school and the community. Then the fun started as the Seniors began delivering their “Last Will and Testament”. Many students and teachers were left unusual and unwanted objects. Following the assembly, Seniors spent the remainder of the day and evening at King Dominion. Mrs. Virginia McDaniels was named permanent substitute for M.H.S. and could be seen daily in almost any classroom. When she wasn’t substituting, she worked as an assistant to anyone who needed her. Mrs. McDaniels was a welcome addition to the M.H.S. Staff. Mrs. McDaniels Mr. Frank Walling was named Mathews High School Nurse during this school term. He helped many of us with our aches and pains and he always had an ear to listen to whatever problems we had. Mr. Walling also taught Proper Health Care to Home Economic and Physical Education classes as a part of their regular class work.
