Mathews Welcomes New Administrators Mr. William A. Keith assumed the pos¬ ition of Superintendent of Mathews County School System in July, 1969. He holds a B.S. Degree from Lincoln Memorial Uni¬ versity and a M.A. Degree from Goerge Peabody College. Mr. Keith served in the army in World War II and the Korean War. He has had an extensive background in edu¬ cation, having served as Principal at Black- water High School in Lee County and Prin¬ cipal of Hampton High School and at Buck- roe Jr. High School. He served a Purchas¬ ing Agent for Hampton city School system before coming to Mathews County. Mr. Keith has identified himself with many civic organizations. He is keenly interested in young people, and is rendering a real service to the educational system of Mat¬ hews County. Mr. William M. Gabbel assumed the position of Principal at Mathews High School in July 1969. He holds a B.S. De¬ gree from East Tennessee State University and has done graduate work at William and Mary College. He recieved a M.Ed from the University of Virginia. Mr. Gabbel served with 5th Division during World War II. He was wounded in France. He taught Social Studies and Basic Business in School- field High School in Danville, Virginia, being chairman of the Business Education Department. Mr. Gabbel is greatly inter¬ ested in various activities in the school and County and had made many friends here at M.H.S. 2
