Mathews High School 68-69 Our campus and Schoolfrom the air--The form of this will change in years to come--But it will always be dear to us. We will recall it as our Alma Mater, the site of our happiest time--It is Seasonless in our thoughts—Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer—We have loved this place-- Lynne R a mm ell, Editor-in-Chief Debbie Hudgins, Business Manager Mrs. Marion Trusch, Sponsor The Seasons Come And Go—And So Do We- Fall—We Come With Eagerness Winter—It’s Always Nice At MHS Graduation And June We Go With Eagerness Too Fall Raking leaves is Fall Fun--es¬ pecially when Debbie, Ed. , Margaret, Ro¬ chelle and Dickie join in. The here we go again atmosphere of Fall at M.H.S. is emphasized by the every day activities that never seem to change at all. It seems we fall right into line just as the summer has not been at all. If the day is sunny, students gather outside to enjoy the full sunshine. Fall days are days when you are a little shy--afraid of making a mistake like dropping your books--everyone feels, in a way, that it is still last year, but it ' s no one’s last year in September, except in a way, Senior’s. The Office And The Guiding Hands Ready for the day ' s dictation--Very very efficient school secretary, Mrs. Robert H. Callis and the current boss, Mr. H. N. Clements, Principal. Mr. E. F. Hudgins, Jr. This year we have had two Bosses . Mr. Hudgins served in this capacity until mid-term in Jan¬ uary, when he left for the business field. Mr. Hudgins was vitally in¬ terested in each student at Mathews High School. Mr. Clements, before assuming the duties of the front office, taught Agriculture at Mathews High School. Greatly respected by both teachers and students, he served the school most effectively. “The Boss” After many years of dedicated service, to education in Mathews County, Mr. D. D. Forrest re¬ tires this year. What can we say of this man who has given so much? He has been inspiring teachers and pupils alike. Always keeping up with the latest trends, Mr. Forrest was an able admin¬ istrator. He was a well known and respected friend of members of the State Department of Edu¬ cation. He will be missed but his influence will remain. The entire school system wishes him a happy retirement. Mr. Dennis D. Loyal . . . Efficient . . . S. WHITE Mrs. White— When we say no one is indispensable, we do not, of course, include Mrs. White, who retires this year after many years of service as an educator. Words simply cannot describe her. You just have to be here to understand her contribution to Mathews High School, the students and teachers. Words like efficient, industrious, knowledgable, are synonymous with Mrs. White. Wherever she has taught, her name is spoken with pride and affection. There is something about her that is communica¬ ted best by these statements: You always know where she stands She is a completely dedicated person She is never too busy to help She goes beyond the second mile She is quick to recognize honest effort She has always known what to do, has known why and how and has done it. Endless¬ ly she has put her all into her work. People may come and go and time will alter, but there will never be another Mrs. White. Her place is secure, for it has been built on those lasting foundations like dedication, loyalty and efficiency. While missing her greatly, we wish her the happiness she so richly deserves.
