MR. W. MURRIE BATES, A.B. Randolph Macon College, M. A. George Peabody College for Teachers; Principal. It is a priviledge to be given this opportunity to extend my congratulations to the members of the senior class of 1953. Working with you for the past five years has been a real plea¬ sure. Although you are now completing one phase of your education, it is our hope that at this school you ' ve received the desire to continue your education. May those of you who are completing your formal education this year leave with the desire to continue your search for knowledge, even though it will not be done in a formal classroom. May those of you who plan to continue your education at institution of higher learn¬ ing do well and take advantage of the opportunities that will be yours. May all of you feel that because of the advantages you’ve had you should try to contribute something worthwhile to the world. Remember that this school ' s interest in you will not cease with your graduation. Our interest in you and your activities will continue and we shall always consider it a priviledge to be called on by you for help.
