Protect them To our beloved Mother General, Mater Miseri- cordiae is not merely a building, but a spirit. We recognize this spirit and we know Mother is part of it herself. She has carried the dream of years into reality by her hard work in connection with the new school building. Whether she is faced with the task of breaking ground or collecting money, Mother Gen- eral attacks each in its turn with calm trust in God. We believe this trust will again see her through in the gigantic task ahead. 4d 'Y-4' Sister Maria del Carmen, Directress of Studies, and Sister Gertrude Marie, Directress and Principal of Mater Misericordiae Academy. fl. i .x W ' rf Xlifivlx' Xl-'I : gv l fi' Mother Gertrude Mary, Mother General of the Sisters of Mercy, Merion, Pa. nder our mantle blue Sister Gertrude Marie, our Directress, Principal and teacher of French, delights in knowing us and in understanding our needs. Sometimes it is dithcult to decide which is the real Sister Gertrude Marie-the cheerful, fun-lov- ing person who is the hrst to enjoy an outlandish situation, or the firmly sympathetic one who guides our days at Merion into the well-ordered channels through which they flow. If we, leaving Merion, have learned to emulate the virtues behind Sister's savoir faire, then we have mastered one of life's greatest lessons. i i S I' al is . M .fl Drenched in the light of sunny skies, caressed by the shade of lovely rare trees, Mater Misericordiae is a monument to Catholic education. With a last minute adjust- ment of wigs, another flick of the powder puff, the show goes on. To the audience it looks as lovely and as spontaneous as a fragrant spring day. The per- formers, however, know otherwise. They've learned valuable lessons during their production of the annual operetta. The hard work of constant practice, the attention to detail, and cooperation with others are all part of Operetta Time. It is a rich and vivid experience at M.M.A. Even after fourteen years theres a twinkle in the eyes of alumnae who remember Windmills of Holland, our first operetta. Sweethearts, which marks our fourteenth performance, carried on the Merion Tradition of striving for perfection in every task we undertake. Mary Elaine McCormick, Barbara Ronan, Dori!
