With the opening of the 1975-76 school year. Mater Dei stu- dents were confronted with new ideas and changes which, in some cases, broke tradition. The Homecoming, for instance, was com- pacted into one weekend. There were new teachers and a new head football coach. The school newspaper suggested controversial sub- jects to the students through the editorial page. The Seniors wanted the prom to be held outside of school, and a fruit sale was organized to defray the expense of the two new school buses. In both football and basketball, school spirit climaxed with the Kinght’s battle against Carlyle. Girl’s softball was introduced into the sport’s schedule, and theatre-in-the-round was initiated by the Drama De- partment.
