Another was the Cultural Assembly in which students portrayed Modern Man through a montage of art slides, band music, modern dance, solo and group songs, drama, poetry reading and inter- pretation. The theme of the Christmas Concert And LoveCame Down portrayed man's struggle over the centuries and its climax, the coming of Christ. Man for all Seasons, the One Act Play, with John Fischer, Kathy Krechnyak, Kay Lou Peltes, Pat Netemeyer, Jim Becker, Chuck Herbst, and Mark Voss made Robert Bolts' play available for all M.D. students. In Sing Out '67 the band and chorus presented a stimulating program in which they showed their feelings about faith, sacrifice, and love for people. Finally, The Senior Play '67, Lerner and Loewe's Camelot based on the novel The Once and Future King by T.H. White included a cast of 62 eager seniors. Lead parts were merited by Tim Dunkel, King Arthur; Kevin Weh, Lancelot; Bernita Dumstorff, Queen Guenevere; Mark Vonnahme, Mordred; Gene Isaak, Merlyn; and Betsy Vahlkamp, Morgan La Fey. Georgia Huels Sr. Antonlus's Senior Sodality expresses the theme of the art of loving through yarn. Dear Graduates, Graduation is only a ceremony, and graduation day is only twenty-four hours long. How- ever, it took eighteen years to prepare for your graduation, and you will be graduates for the rest of your lives. On graduation day you are honored and congratulated. For the rest of your lives you will be expected to live as loving people of God and responsible citizens of the United States of America. The Church of which you are members is a changing Church. This is at once both con- fusing and challenging. It is not a new Church, as though the old Chruch had been destroyed. It is a Church which is in the process of renewal. It is like a plant being transplanted. If plants could feel pain, the moment of being transplanted would be a painful moment. In this age of renewal every member of the Church must take pains to wake up from a complacent, routine observance of religious rituals and get involved in a growth with love and toward greater love. The only answer to most of today's problems is Christianity—not an irrelevant, theoretical set of formulas—but an honest, sincere love of God and neighbor. The world needs people who really care about other people—all other people, but especially the people who live next door and the people with whom they work and pray. The letter of the law has killed too many in Europe, the Pacific, Korea, Vietnam, the South, New York, and Los Angeles. It is now time for the spirit of the lawtogivelife—a life of freedom, dignity, and equality to Russians, Hun- garians, Chinese, Vietnamese, and American Negroes. The spirit of the law is love. It begins at home. From home it extends to the neighborhood, the city, the state, the country, finally to the ever-shrinking planet earth, and perhaps beyond. The country of which you are citizens must still demand the shedding of blood in limited war to prevent unlimited war, for which it is too well prepared. Being prepared to destroy demands being prepared to be destroyed. Scientists have developed artificial heart devices, kidneys, and lungs to save lives. But parents and teachers are increasingly unsuccessful in teaching children to respect human life. Evan mass murders are becoming frightfully com- monplace. Poorly clad, inadequately housed, hungry children are forced to watch television ads for cosmetics for dogs and cats. Mothers daily abandon their children to operate type- writers and computers to pay for the houses in which they have little time to live. Our ex- plorations of space are most remarkable, but it seems quite probable that, despite oificial denials, creatures of other planets have already visited our earth. Certainly changes will have to be made. The need for change is your challenge, graduates of 1967. May God help you. 65 Father Jerome Ratermann Principal Robert B me ege St. Dominic, Breese Gary Moss St. Dominic, Breese SduD9n[i cEu iL David Fischer St. Mary, Trenton ClEsE OfQisefjS Tim Dunkel Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Mount Carmel Marge Humphrey St. Boniface, Germantown John Fischer St. Rose, St. Rose Darlene Kalmer St. Damian, DamiansviUe 67 Ernie Ades St. Boniface, Germantown Kenneth Arentsen St. Mary, Trenton Dennis Baker f.
