Net Heroes BOB GRIES 5 5 Guard Bob played a strong role in re serve for the Cats JERRY BROWNING 5-11 Guard Mater Dei's All-American high school gridder donned basketball togs to become the city's leading scorer. Jerry was an unaminousp choice for All-City and was chosen the city's most val- uable player. Browning was especially feared for his driving lay-ups and tremen- dous board plays. GERALD SEIB 5 11 Forward Serb was the Wildcats finest defensive player as well as being the squads most accurate shot. Red, always a great pressure player, led the Wild- cats in their great Sectional showings in 1958 and 1959. shi JIM HARL and BILL SCHULZ were the two top reserves who came in the games many times and hit for crucial points to keep the cats on the go.

PAUL GRIES, 5-5 Guard Paul was the team's sparkplug. Gries was the city's most prom- ising sophomore pros pect. He was es- pecially adept at spectacular thefts and thrilling full court layups. The little guard was in- strumental in produc- ing the Wildcats' greatest basketball record. DAVID HAYDEN 5-9 Guard David added his shooting ability and deft ball handling to help spear-head the wildcat attacks. JIM FLECK. 6-3 Center Jumpin' Jim was one of the n city's outstanding rebounders as well as being a constant scorer. Jim was a team play- er and was skillful at setting up many plays from his pivot position. 105 WESLEY THOMAS, 5-10 Forward, used his foot- ' ball frame to good ability to be a val- uable re- bounder. JERRY MCRAE 6-2 Forward Mac was the teams second lead- ing scorer and a good man on the boards. McRae utilized his mus- cular 6-2 to good advantage in helping the Wildcats get their share of the rebounds.
