Spirit Attack Huskie Fans Get Fired Up Get the hall hack! Get the ball back! We want the ball. So ATTACK! The chant rings in your ears, while you get caught up in the action around you. You stamp your feet and scream as the Huskies score another touchdown. On the field, the cheerleaders are working hard to keep the Huskie spirit alive. Our new Huskie mascot jumps around the sidelines taunt- ing the opposing team. Your attention wanders from the game being played on the field, to the rallying cheerleaders below, to the mascot on the sidelines, and finally to your friends in the stands. All around you, fel- low Matawanians are cheer- ing on their favorite players and waving cry towels. In bursts of excitement, spirit- ed fans throw doggie bis- cuits down at our team in a show of appreciation. During halftime, Mata- wan’s marching band comes out to give the onlookers a show. The colorguard swings their rifles and twirls their flags to the beat of the music. The marching band struts their stuff with preci- sion and grace. At this time. many students run to the food stand for hot chocolate in an effort to warm their bodies. As the referees blow their whistles to signal the start of the next half, the cheering resumes. The Huskie spirit is not just contained to our outra- geous football team. Stu- dents have become involved in promoting all the teams. Students have turned out for soccer, fieldhockey, and many of the other sporting events. This year by wearing maroon and grey, going to Huskie games, and keeping the spirit alive — there’s no way we can lose! 6 INTRODUCTION
