Student Council Adopts A Child . . . Rebecca’s family background is one of extreme poverty and privation. Although both her parents are living, their circumstances are pitiful. They live in a miserable shack that is far too small for their family. The father, although employed, earns so very little that it is impossible to stretch their meager income to meet their needs. The girl was desperately in need of proper nourishment, cloth- ing and attention. We were happy to welcome her to our ■•family group. Your sponsorship will mean much to her. ooooh. John Wayne AD-FAB-SAC AD-FAB SAC is a new board which gives the students, faculty, and administration an equal vote on any policy decisions which have a direct bearing on the students. The Student Advisory Committee (SAC) repre- sents the Student Council, while AD FAB rep- resent the Administration and Faculty Advisory Board respectively. The procedure of the AD-FAB SAC council calls for the FAB and SAC to poll their respective bodies on the issue at question. The results of these polls and the administrative view is then discussed and a joint policy is re submitted to the bodies. The results of these votes determines the position of each body and in a final meeting of majority determining the school policy. This newly formed tri-umverate has been a major step in giving the students an effective way of voicing their opi- nions. 21 all quiet on the western front!

Members of the M.R.H.S. Student Council have taken over a small corner of our vast building. Great changes have taken place in A-14. The room was originally designed as a coat check room for the auditorium. Until recently it has only been used as a store room for odds and ends. We have Keith Gross to thank for securing the room for Student Council activities. The physical appearance of the room has changed greatly. A wall was built to separate the room into a conference room and an office. A rug v as laid in the Conference room which will also be used for Guidance. And Steals A Room! Student Council Participates In Interscholastic Exchanges This year student council was in- volved with a student exchange pro- gram with various High Schools in the area. This consisted of one day tours of our school showing them the different facets of Matawan's curricu- lum. The same was done with our students at various High Schools.
