happy memories of classmates and teachers which we will cherish forever. These memories and our feelings of nostalgia are intensified since we have been chosen as the last graduating class to leave Matawan High School. After June the familiar faces are no longer seen in the rooms of this school. Our friends and classmates have gone on their separate ways after graduation, in- tending to face the responsibilities of adults. The gym, auditorium, office, and every other part of the school will become landmarks of the past. The classrooms and this school will he engraved in our memories, never to be erased by time. We would like to express our appreciation to the many people who have helped us along the road to gradua- tion and all it means. From the hearts of all the senior class, we would like to say ‘’Adieu’’ to old Matawan High School.

The Great Teachers To the memory of a beloved friend, Mr. Ralph Mauro, who taught at Matawan High School from December 1951 to August 1961, the Senior Class of 1962 respectfully dedicates this book. For the insights concerning historical and ethical truths, which came to us through Mr. Mauro's selfless, unflagging devotion to the cause of our education, we are sincerely grateful. It was Mr. Mauro’s hope that he could aid ns to make tire best of our spiritual and mental selves in high school, so that we would go forth into world citizenship prepared to continue our self-development, and carry to all mankind a fruitful message, high purposes, patriotic example, and practical helpfulness. lie was one of the great teachers. 5
