She has served both faculty and student body well, acting as secretary, mother, chaperone, nurse, liaison and fashion consultant for them. Indeed, “Mrs. B. is an indispensable part of the school. We cannot begin to ex- press our deep gratitude to her within the mere covers of this book. Foster TO THE CLASS OF 1961: You entered Matawan High School with many hopes and some doubts. You should leave your alma mater with even greater hopes and fewer doubts about the future. It is timely, at this moment of your life, to attempt to energize your hopes and to enervate your doubts. Look back to the many remarkable events that have tran- spired during your time as a high school student. What part did you play? What important and worthwhile tasks have you successfully accomplished? Did you win athletic championships because you gave the best there is in you? How successful was your search for truth and knowledge? Certainly—greater and more remarkable events will surely unfold as the years pass and each of you takes a place in adult life. Each member of the class can build a successful life by turning on the steam of energy, overcoming doubts and fears, and serving as a loyal American citizen, loving Cod and country above everything else.
