These men. giving unselfishlx of their time ami effort, helped to make our Senior year one which we will always remember. Among our memories of Mr. Kpstein is his willingness to lend a helping hand—even to scrubbing the gym floor for our dance. As advisor to the year-book staff, his patience has been evident at many trying times. His school spirit ami his good humor make him as much a friend as a teacher. Our memories of Mr. Youngman include his facility to cope with us in the senior play. Undertaking the task of directing it was one proof of his sincere interest in our class. Another evi- dence of this was when he helped guide us in re-establishing Girls' and Boys’ Glee Clubs. Dance The weather supplied the perfect atmosphere for the annual Senior dance, “Winter Wonderland.” Although school was not in session that day due to the snow, the students were notified through a radio broadcast and posters in town that the dance would still he held. A large turnout enjoyed dancing to the music of the Corvairs. Highlighting the dance was the crowning of Seniors Bill Mahbitt and Sandy Pearce, king and queen. 53 Oun Pnom Everyone looks forward to the big formal of the year the Junior Prom. East year was no exception. Entitled Halfway to Heaven.” our prom was held on May 29. 1959. We were granted the use of the new ClifTwood Cafetorium and were able to decorate during the three days preceeding the Prom. The decorations were based on the theme of heaven, with angel-hair clouds and a celestial stairway. The music was supplied by Walt Staeger and his orchestra. The official chaperons were Mrs. Lois Davidson. Mr. Ralph Mauro and Mr . Loretta Anderson. During the Grand March they selected Jo Ann .Shea, queen, and her escort. Richard Grenwall, king. Her court included Leslie Lockwood. Grace Della Pietro, and their escorts. Kenm Williams and Gary Spaniak. respectively. A good time was had by all. 54 Mrs. Davidson Crowns The King and Queen The Queen And Her Court 55 for a change of pace from the usual comedy, this year the senior play was a serious drama that involved a murder trial. (.hester Brant, a wealthy man about town, was found murdered in his apart- ment. His secretary. Barbara Scott, confessed her guilt of this crime to the police. In a seemingly vain attempt, her sister. Kdith. decided to defend Barbara at the trial. The prosecuting attorney, Allan Woodward, started the case with an almost certain conviction in sight, only to find that the persistent Kdith had a few tricks of her own. Several possible suspects were brought to light during the trial, and at the final curtain the jury had to decide whether Barbara was guilty. The audience, as a sideline, was the jury, and also the deciding party in an unusual ending, and they were left to go home and ponder the verdict. WHO IS A HO OS T E R ? 1. A person who attends educational and social functions sponsored by the high school. 2. A person who attends the games and athletic events to show our students that they are “community backed.” 3. A person who attends as many of the Booster Association meetings as he can. 4. A person who gets into the spirit of these activities and “pitches in.” Funds are raised for this organization chiefly by membership cards which cost $1.00 per year. Any money raised can only be used for promoting the activities stated above. Members have donated a football scoreboard for the benefit of loyal fans and players; they have provided the labor needed to operate the concession stand at home games: they built a sign for the high school which gives the date and place of each game scheduled; and they plan to give awards for any outstanding achievement by students in the high school.
