Having just roceiyfrdi br commissions frorfl ?ur respective midshipmen’s schools, we were assigned cab:n 4C 4? 43, end 44. Our crew olected officers, joinod various clubs and near the end of our first year at sea sponsored Th Last Chance Dance” in the ship s recroaticn room. Wo thon went our sopora ways for a two month's liberty. active 1950- 1951 Returning to active duty in September. 1950, wo sot sail for an activo yoar Our crow was moling a name for itself in sports while fivoVX£. S. Keyport on Turkey Day . A Central Jorsoy Track Champion, was brought to our deck by tho running, jumping, javolin, and disk throwing of our sailors.
