0 We, THE CLASS OF 1950, dedicate to you, Mr. Shea, this book, a living expression of our sincere appreciation of your untiring efforts in our behalf through four years of high school activity. 1 ADMINISTRATION To The Class Of 1950: At this time I wish to join your legion of friends in wishing you a long and successful career. The laws of characier are as interdependent as the laws of science. The administration and faculty have observed your conformity to these laws. Your conduct as students, especially seniors, proves your understanding of these immutable laws that make up your character. The tuture is yours! Labor wars against big busi- ness. Children become increasingly rebellious against authority. The one word strife spells the condition of affairs in the home, in politics, in education, in industry and in the world. The Spiritual life of our people is sadly wanting. Rever- ence for parents, reverence for the Sabbath Day is lacking. People seem to be more interested in the baser pleasures of the world than in education, in cultural life and the finer things of life. You are in a position to change all of this. You have learned to search for true values in life. You have learned to keep calm and serene because you have used your abilities to think through problems to their successful con- clusion. You have learned that the best things in life come from clear thinking and arduous labor. Remember this, Excellence is never granted, it is the reward for labor. The dead line was approached with a delirious rush of typing, proof reading, and shutter work. The Staff wishes to extend sincerest thanks to Mr. Hardie for his helping hand. NEWSPAPER STAFF Despite mislaid stencils and late copy, the School Paper headed by Rita Volker and An; na Mae Volk, assist- ed by Virginia Helb -met the deadlines to the delight of the students. Mr. Lloyd acted as balance wheel in straighten- ing out difficulties that arose. STUDENT COUNCIL The Student Council is the governing body designed to provide opportunities for construc- tive student expression. Last spring Reid Tune was elected as president, assisted by Bob Colot as vice president; Peggy Devlin filled the posi- tion of secretary; and Betty Ann Ward, of treasurer. The advisors were Mr. Lloyd, Mr. Hardje, and Mr. Soraci. NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY The National Hon- or Society honors those students who have a high scholas- tic average, and are outstanding in char acter, leadership, and service. John Lyle presides.
