Although rain drops fell on many heads, nothing could dampen the spirit of the Juniors and Seniors who participated in the 1985 picnic at Holiday Hill in Cheshire. From the first foot to step off the caravan of buses, to the last shout of enjoy- ment before leaving, the day held an ex- citement that surpassed the falling rain. Music blasted throughout the area calling some to get out of the rain and dance their hearts out under the pavillion. Others defied the weather and battled it out in a fierce game of volleyball. Even though many were drenched it didn’t stop them from diving into the pool or riding horses through the mud puddles. The boat rides proved to be no threat to the soaked participants as they waged wars against friends. An abundance of mud made it easier to continue these fights on land, changing students to creatures resembling horror movie characters. Pangs of hunger subsided when all of the food was brought out. From hot New England Clam Chowder to juicy, red watermelon, it was a welcome sight for everyone. The thrill of the Junior Senior Picnic surpassed the dismal weather that Mother Nature threw down on September 9. The rain was not distressing, but instead added to the fun of the wet and wild event. 1 — The day begins. 2 — Kate Capobianco dances to the beat of The Rain. 3 — Raindrops kept falling on our heads...” 4 — Damon and Sue pause for a picture. 5 — Mike Hydeck takes a giant bite. Mmmm ... 6 — Kathy Tomena and an array of munchies. 7 SPLASH!!! 8 — Kathy O’Mara got WET and WILD. 9 — Who gets the spike? Craig or Steve? 10 — Full rammin’ speed ahead! 11 — Michele Geadrities pursues equine interests. 12 — A view from up above. ii
