Spirit and camaraderie were the hallmarks of the festivities at Holiday Hill on September 17. Students built up appetites by enthusiastically participating in tennis, swimming, horseback riding, and softball. The mouthwatering buffet was eagerly devoured by hungry students. The Junior and Senior classes challenged each other in a series of fast-moving volleyball games. Unknown talents appeared as each side fought for victory. The net collapsed as the game became more intense. The classes formed a human tidalwave, rushing to the next available court, leaving innocent bystanders to repair the damage. Normally relaxing and serene canoe rides became as wet and wild as a flume ride, and provided hours of fun for everyone. As dusk approached, and it was finally time to leave, everyone agreed that the day had been worth the $25. Crowded in their seats, some students dozed from exhaustion, while others sang and reminisced about the terrific day. In past years, Masuk's picnics have been held at public recreation areas such as Indian Wells State Park and then Lake Quassapaug. One can only imagine that picnics held at such public facilities must have lacked the exclusive at- mosphere we have enjoyed here at Holiday Hill, one which nurtures the tremendous amount of fellowship and enthusiasm that our upperclassmen share.
