Roosevelt 4 v Education is a social process . . . Education is growth... Education is not preparation for life; Education is life itself. — John Dewey 6 It is through the idealism of youth that man catches sight of truth, and in the idealism he possesses a wealth which he must never exchange for anything else. — A. Schweitzer dedication What is life? Is it the unclothed starving child halway around the world? Or is it the rich politicians who always keep their faces fed? Could it be the babies in Harlem whose mothers wish they were never born? Or people like us in our safe secure, little worlds? How about the destitutes, alcoholics, and drug addict Is this life? Who decides? Only we as individuals can decide what we want for our lives. It is up to us to decide now whose face we want to feed; the politicians, the starving, or our own. We must decide now and take action. Life goes by on endless trails of dreams; dreams of love, dreams of peace, dreams that come true, dreams that remain dreams. The staff dedicates Exodus '72 to the youth of the world, with whom rests the responsibility to build a better tomorrow. Lynn Whitaker, Art Coordinator Vanessa Taylor, Rene Danis, Typists 140 Lynda Callo, Staff member Don Rossler, Sports Editor Exodus 1972! We’ve waited four years for it. I’m sure that in many ways it is not what some students ex- pected. We’ve made many changes; we decided to include new things that we thought were important to you the students, but unfortunately we also had to omit some tradi- tional features. One of the most noticeable changes is the size of the book. This year’s 200 page volume is the largest yearbook Masuk has published. But, despite this increase, on January 28 we suddenly discovered our files contained an, over- whelming number of pictures which we wanted to include, but were forced to eliminate due to lack of space. This past Winter, we were made aware of the important role and the effect the Board of Education has on our lives each day; we were happy to include the board members in the 1972 Exodus. The staff derived great pleasure from the challenge of creating Exodus 1972. We hope that you are as pleased, with it as we are and that it will help to preserve, for you, a realistic memory of Masuk 1972.
