WASHINGTON TRIP (continued) After lunch we visited the Washington Monument. After we left there we went to the hotel for a three hour rest before dinner and to change into our clothes for the boat ride down the Potomac River, Back at the hotel that was the only thing the girls could think of. After rest and supper we got aboard the bus for the ride to the boat. We weren't the first to arrive by any means. Once aboard it was everyone for himself in finding a seat. When we reached the island, everybody left the boat to enjoy the amusement park. When the hour was up on the island, surprisingly enough everyone was back on the boat. We arrived back at the hotel about 12:45 a.m. Of course, everybody went right to bed. Breakfast on the second day was at 10:00 a.m. Thank good- ness for the rest. After breakfast we started on the tour of the day. we first visited the White House, Bureau of Archives, National Art Gallery, Smithsonian Institute. After lunch we went back to the hotel to make a change if we wish- ed and to check out. After this we visited Mount Vernon, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. We were just in time to see the changing of the guard. Then we visited the Iwo Jima Monument. While we were riding to supper we went to Haines Point where the cherry blossoms are during the first two weeks of April. This little trip seemed to prove interesting, Mr. Garrity and Mr. Slais learned a few points about golf while we were riding past the golf course. After supper we had time to do all the shopping we could handle in one hour. After this we started our night tour. The first place we saw was the Old Glory flying atop the Capitol. Then we visited the Jefferson Memorial and the Lincoln Memorial. Our last visit was the National Airport. It was a wonderful and exciting sight to see. Every minute there is a plane landing or taking off from the airport. With everybody back on the bus at about 10:30 p.m. we headed for home. (continued on next page)

The ride home seemed to be quieter than the ride down. Our group was a little tired and weary by then. V.'e arrived home about 7:45 a,m,, with one eye closed and the other half closed. We would like to thank our conductor, Stevej the two bus drivers, A1 and Henry, Most of all we would like to thank Mrs, Anderson, Hr. Slais, and Mr. Garrity for putting up with us.
