Voice and instrumental training is offered. Cadet Band is open to those who have decided on instrumental music. Orchestra, symphonic band, or the Tiger Swing Band follow Cadet Band if the student is capable. Our choir demands hard work but the result is worth all the effort. The General Chorus is open to all while the other choirs require a voice IGSI. The Dramatic department offers training in all phases of theatre work. Struts and Frets present three plays during the year. For those interested in art we have a small but capable art program. Students use and develop their own ideas as well as study art, history, and appreciation. German, French, Spanish, and Latin are offered in languages. History, culture, and understanding of people is covered along with knowledge of languagein these courses.

SOCIAL STUDIES The Social Studies department includes American History, World History, Geogra- phy, and Problems of American Democracy. The objective of this department is to de- velop traits of citizenship, help the student to know and understand his country, and develop an awareness of the social and economic problems of the world. National government is studied in American History and world government is studied in Worlcl History. With the developments in communication and transportation during recent years, the world is becoming even smaller. People must learn to live together. The leaders of tomorrow, the students of today, are being molded by their understanding developed in Social Studies.
