The Dramatic Club presented the second play of the year on the first and second of march. The Hasty Heart was well received by the audiences. Friday evening, March ninth, the combined choirs presented the Mid-winter concert. Can any of the speech club members forget the exciting times had at the state finals on the seventeenth and eighteenth of March? A good month was had by the swimming team. The regular Easter service held on March twenty-third. Another welcomed vacation began that afternoon. This time it lasted one week as we returned to classes the day after Easter. One of the really big social events of the year was the Military Ball sponsored by the Band Mothers Club on Saturday the twenty-fourth of March. Elaborate decorations at the American Legion Hall helped make this dance a huge success. The advanced choir received a superior rating at the district music contest. April began as a busy month for everyone. The end ot the third grading period fell on the sixth. lt was hard to realize that the year was coming to a close. We returned to school on Tuesday, January third, after a vacation ot two weeks and one day. On the ninth the Senior Class nominated the ten Miss Massillonian candidates who were pre- sented to the student body in the gym on the thirteenth. When the smoke cleared from the auditorium stage Thursday night the nine- teenth, it was apparent that it would be some time before the auditorium could be used for programs again. The Annual Board's special program was changed to the gym on the twenty-third. The guest of honor, Johnny Andrews, arrived with ten seconds to spare and took over the program. Both the basketball team and the speech teams had a busy month in January. The speakers and debaters won many first, seconds, and thirds, through- out the state. The Tigers played one of the most exciting basketball games of the season with Central Catholic February fourth. From the standpoint of games won, the season was not a success, but there was nevertheless many thrilling games for the fans to enjoy. The student body selected the Out- standing Senior Boy and the Dedicatee ot the yearbook in February. Page l 2
