At last, we sigh, Uwe have attained the highest point of our high school career. Now we must turn from high school life in order to finish our education in the schools of experience. But we can not leave without briefly reviewing the fondest of all memories, our four years of high school. Each year, can be described in one word, the name of a stone: emerald, blarney, grindstone, and tombstone. YVhen we entered this building as Freshmen we proudly displayed our emeralds, for we were, we must admit, as green as grass. But we managed to slip through someway and became conceited Sophomores. 'fSurely if we made last year we ought to make this,,' we thought. And so We decided not to study so hard. To counter- balance this mistaken notion we attempted to bluff our teachers. The only stone appropriate for us that year was the blarney stone. But we were awakened from our dream the following year. As Juniors if we were to succeed we realized we would have to study. Determined we set to work on the grindstone. But these three years with their ups and downs, joys and sorrows, suc- cesses and failures, were essential to make us efficient Seniors. In these years we learned to be leaders, fine sportsmen, and loyal students of VVash- ington High. We are not perfect but we have strived to do our best, and to add to the ideals of our school. And now before bidding farewell to W. H. S. we leave no inscription for our tombstone, for we are confident that in years to come the class of '26 will speak for itself. C. R. '26. 14
