W1LsoN Graduation rings down the cur- tain on the high school education of the Class of 1946. Your critics have passed judgment and the 160- week run of your production is over. Critics you will always haveg keep their reports good by keeping your own reliance on truth, virtue and on God unfaltering. MR. HUGH PERKINS All plays have their critics, both while in vroduction and on opening night. Tie school administrator is charged with the responsibility of helping to shape things in such a way that when the curtain finally goes up and the graduates step out onto the stage of life each one will star in his part as an alert, intelli- gent citizen in a living democracy. MR. MARTIN A. HELFER Shakespeare said, All the world's a stage and all the men and women merely players. We hope that what you have learned here in your training for your part on the world's stage will serve you in good stead when you enter the larger drama of adult living. Our highest aspiration as your guides in learning how to live will be measured by the richness of mind and heart with which you play your part in life. go SOCIAL S'I'I'I7lI3S IDIfIIAR,I'5IIfN,I' Sc'uten'J .lurncs I, 5IL'IT.iI' Iand. Much of the credit for the success of this senior class should be given to our senior advisers, who helped us throughout the year. Miss Mahoney Cunable to stay away any longerD returned this year to become head adviser for all senior projects. Mr. McFarland, newest faculty member, showed en- thusiasm in all senior projects, and helped greatly with the Senior plays. Miss George was again adviser for the 'I'atler, and director of one of the Senior plays. Miss Ramsdell's ready smile and helping hand were invaluable, while Miss Tamblin's aid resulted in a newspaper that we will well remember. We seniors certainly owe a debt of gratitude to these people. enior icerd 'ii ' Having been led successfully Qboth so- cially and linanciallyD through 1946 by our class ollicers, it is only fair that they now 'Q y be given the spotlight. Joe Cutry, with his powers of oratory, proved more than an able director for our production, while Armand lleaudoin, in the role ofstage man- details. Nor can Mary Ellen Robinson evade the limelight, for we know that her management of the box ofiice was indis- pensible. The Harvest Ball, the Senior plays, the ager, proved his finesse in seeing to all the Sno-Ball these were merely a few of the performances engineered by these three, in their efforts to bring us to stardom. Thus we, the Class of 1946, say with gfaIlIL1dC IU DUI' 0lllCCI'S, UT21liC 21 bow. Armand Beaudoin, Mary Ellen Robinsorihloseph Cutry. 12 Sleffal' 0 25 With a four-year average of 94.97, .X Shirley Lanoue has achieved the honor of W N X being valedictorian of the Class of 1946. X Editor-in-Chief of our yearbook, Shirley has always done her best in aiding class J., undertakings. We know that she will do M equally as well in her future work. V Bettie Perkins, our salutatorian, ranks 2 second highest in our class with an average of 94.20. She has been active in class ac- tivities, serving as Business Manager ofthe Tat1er, and she was a member of the Senior play east. Her pleasing personality has made her a warm friend in our class. Vartkes llaratian, 7. Gilbert Granger, Captain, S. Charles liarhour, 9. Richard Kirkey, IO. james Pichette, ll. Armand liourdon, ll. Robert Pt-ach. With the coming of Fall the curtain rose on those famous stars, the Red Raiders. Featured players were Captain Gilbert Granger, Bob Bach, Charlie Barbour, Haig Bogosian, and Delbert Silmser. With the aid of Director james Long and an outstanding supporting cast they were able to obtain again the Northern New York Scholastic Football League Championship, ln their first appearance for the 1945 season, the Raiders gave a su erb performance by defeating Potsdam. Canton was defeated in a climatic game on Priest Field, ant the following week brought another victory, this time over O. F. A. The next game was one that was looked forward to by every- one. Our stars faced Tupper Lake, the winners of the 1944 championship. Tupper was scored upon better than a point a minute and the team added another victory to their list. They next appeared with Malone, and the following week, with Gouverneur, coming out on top in both games. The last league game of the season was played with Saranac Lake, and the team ended another undefeated season. Directing the cast was Coach Long, with Jerry Baird and Richard Schnacke as his assistants. As a preview, a home-town performance was staged with the Seniors and Juniors as co-stars. The Seniors emerged as the victorious heroes, while the juniors were the defeated villains Next, another rehearsal in the local theater was stagedfthis time with our Red Raiders pitted against Malone. Triumphantly, the Raiders starred as the heroes. The season started in earnest, with the daring Red Raider stars always defeating the opposing villains first Pots- dam, then Gouverneur, and finally Ogdenshurg 'all perform- ances being held in the local theater. Even at the second largest theater in the circuit, the Van Dusen at Ogdensburg, they were again the victors. Not only were they victorious, hut they piled up the greatest number of points ever to he made there in any performance! This was climaxed hy the tremendous ovation with which they were acclaimed the champions at the sectional theater at Lake Placid. Thus ended one of the most successful circuits which the Massena Red Raider Stars ever played in their annual season. Curtain! Hockey, one of the three varsity sports put away for the duration of World War Il, came into the spotlight during the 1946 season. After an absence of three years, Coach Calnon returned to continue his work on the faculty and as coach of the hockey team. He coached his last hockey team to cham- pionship in the '41-'42 season. Helping him as assistant coach was Albert Babe Giroux, a veteran who had recently returned to school. The managers of the club were James Gilespie and William Smith. The season started with Massena playing a winning game at Saranac Lake. The next game was also with Saranac Lake. this time on the home rink, and again we won. Then the Red Raiders challenged the Potsdam Sandstoners, and came home victorious. The return game with Potsdam was played and won by the Raiders on their home rink, Following this was the Lake Placid tournament, in which we reached the semi-linals by defeating Saranac Lake, but lost the last game of the season to Clinton. john Amarel Andrew lioisvert Henry Paucher Donald Feeney Saranac Lake .
