ST. .IOHN'S CHURCH Episcopal services began in 1868 under Rev. john F. Winkley. St. .Iohn's was built in 1885. In 1943 a beautiful 13th century stained glass window was installed. The present rector is Rev. Norman B. Godfrey. ADVENT CHRISTIAN CHURCH Rev. Cornelius Pike started services in 1872. The present building was erected about 1874. In 1943 under Rev. Albert W. Brooks, the church was redecorated and an altar consecrated. ST. MARY'S CHURCH St. Mary's was built in 1915 under Rev. John M. Bellamy. Father Bellamy is now a lieutenant-colonel in the United States Army, though he retains his position here. The administrator is Rev. B. H. Staie. ADATH ISRAEL SYNAGOGUE In 1919, shortly after his arrival in America, Rabbi B. Brennglass, a Pole, started a synagogue on Church Street. Rabbi Philip Shulman is now in charge. THE PILGRIM HOLINESS CHURCH In 1931 Rev. William Shoemaker started the lirst Holiness Church at Masscna Center, but in 1933 the property at No. 2 River Street was purchased. The minister now is Rev. Robert T. Smith.
