Uur Record Ui Pour Eventful Years 9 Now that graduation is not far away, our minds l travel back over our years in Massena lligh School. llow long the years looked when we entered, but how very quickly they passed. ln our Freshman year, because we were shy and timid, we participated in few activities. liut with the aid of our Superintendent, Mr. VVarreu, Prineipal Mr. Helfer and Yice-Principal Mr. Wilson, we planned our future years. As Sophomores, we got our lirst test of Senior High problems. ln this year, Mr. Fenner and Mr. Long, football and track coaches respectively, were added to the faculty. Both proved to be excellent and turned out winning teams. During our class elec- tions, Charlie McCarthy was elected President, .lean Ward, Vice-President, lrene tlabor, Secretary, and Robert Patterson, T1'easurer. With these oftieers, we got. our first. money in the treasury, by selling pencils. Mr. Warren resigned about this time and Mr. llelfer and Mr. Wilson were promoted while Mr. Perkins was made Vice-Principal. We were champions in hockey, football and our basketball team ended in first place but wzis defeated in the play-oll's by Tapper Lake. It was during our .lumor year that we really took Officers: Barbara Hutton. Secretary-Treasurer: part in activities. Late in November, we put, on the Artlmr Serabian. Vt-66-pI'f'Sl'tfPI1f,' VVilliam Derby' Pf 9idf annual Football Dance. The gym was decorated at- tractively with corn-stalks and pumpkins. We were given the sale of candy shortly after, and continued with it until early spring. Again our football team enjoyed an undefeated season. The basketball team secured lirst. place, but lost to Ugdensburg in the linals. Our hockey team was again crowned Northern New York Champions. Our baseball team was crowned baseball champions: and our track team had a very successful season as did our Cross Country team. As Juniors, we sponsored many Nickelodeon dances. The Class officers were Bill Derby, President: .lean Ward. N ice-l'resident: and Jacqueline Seidel, Secretary-Treasurer. Uur Senior year found us busy as bees. The officers elected were Bill Derby, President: Art Serabian, Nice-President, and Barbara Hut- ton, Secretary. Many of our telchers entered the armed forees. Mr. lihle was our new Vice-Principal. Because of restrictions our football team played only four games. But as usual they finished the season undefeated. Mr. Fenner resigned and Mr. Long was made head coach. The Senior Plays this year were a great success. The three plays were i'Lovesick, directed by Miss Lynch, Thursday Evening, directed by Miss Tam- bling and Wild Hobby-iiorses, di- rected by Miss liamsdell. The profits from the plays amotmted to 923233. Our Christmas Dance was not very successful as the weather conditions were unfavorable. After Christmas vacation work on the Taller was rushed. Assignments were handed Olll. tilld pit'tllI'0S Wt'I't' ltlliell. Tllell .1illl'I'SllI'S.' VVinnil'red liamsdell, lt. Parker Downs, Frances Mahoney came the measurements for eaps and llfllvl Ff1 'l'l '- gowns. The Junior Prom spelled tin- ish to a most, successful high school year. 12
