Our President for the past ten years, Dr. John Musselman, was to resign, there was a shuffling about of other Administrators at the college, the teachers, with the sup port of the student body, finally received a long-awaited and much deserved pay raise , a threat of level funding was close to becoming a reality, the Latch Program Ca program for stu- dents with special needsl was to become the model for the entire country, new programs and organizations came into existence, and at long last, four of Massasoits five new buildings were to be accepted. As the campus grew in size and diversity, students grew in know ledge and maturity. Massasoit was a productive stepping stone for many in pursuing a dream of higher education. As we leave Massasoit, we take with us two years of achieve- ments, remembrances of many struggles, as well as warm memories of the educators, counselors, and fellow students who played a supportive and essential role in helping us to realize a dream. .gin 'J I . . it , . 1 , ' - , ,Q J ' ' r 'r ll ,J ! With just a few weeks and a limited, but dedicated staff to assist in the production and completion of the nClassbook of 78N, we have met that challenge. Perhaps, at times, doubtful ourselves, but always per- severing. What we lacked in quanti- ty of staff, we were surpassed in quality. To our two photographers, June Chamillard and Gene Cushing, who were always there, spending vacation time to assist in last minute photos, and for being at our beck and call, our heartfelt thanks to you both. Without you this would have remained just an- other unrealized dream. To the administrators, instructors, and counselors who tolerated last minute invasions into offices requesting photographs or advice, our inten- tions were well meant. Thank you for your graciousness and assistance. To the many of the student body, faculty members and administrators who were not available to be photographed because of the time element, our apologies to all. And to our staff, though few in number, who worked long tedious hours to complete this book and meet a deadline, your efforts were greatly appre- ciated. Though this classbook, in all physical actuality was lightly staffed there were many others who played an essential role in the uClassbook of 78up other students, faculty, counselors, and adminstrators who contributed ideas, photos, comments, and much needed support. This is our product of what these two years at Massasoit have meant to us. It has been a rewarding experience to have met the challenge, but more important to be able to share this memorable uClassbook of 78N with you ........... Mr. Niles graduated last Spring from Suffolk University and is involved with the rights and equality of all Senior Citizens. Mr. Niles spoke on the topic of The Fences That Senior Citizens Build Around Themselvesu. The Battle To Be There are times when all seems lost but you will smile at any cost nod your head when the answer is no there are cobwebs but you will let them,go and There are times when all seems won but you still feel your dreams aren't done and you begin to think that you were cheated somehow the winner becomes the defeated and There are times when you don't lose or win but simply try to make the out an in you will tilt your head l ONWARD BUT UPWARD When I was six I dreamed I could fly At ten I dreamed when At fourteen I dreamed of war And when eighteen I dreamed of love and peace Now twenty four, I dream no more J.P. so that you can see who keeps the score in this battle to beC.B. THIS MAN Hollowed eyes within black rings, skin so shallow it slopes within structures strong, but weakness there old but young, afraid to care scrolls and stories prevade his mind Loss of self, in Search of find no sense of being, no path, no time . . . SPEAK I spoke of ambition. You spoke of success. Together we spoke of Wisdom I spoke of war. You spoke of peace. Together we spoke of Sadness. I spoke of death. You spoke of Life. Together we spoke of Etemity. Gene Cushing fail ediiiem 'ix 6 1 50905101 I It Q3-e o 3,95- aff It 68,551 949 MADONNA MULBEY, EDITOR g I doubt.
