This year's Massapequa Wrestling Team led by coach Bev and sen- ior captains Ed Fiorvanti and Jim LaFlare easily won the Division I championship. They later went on to win the South Shore title. The Chiefs are destined to win the Nassau County Championship and should be a top contender in the State Wrestling Tournament. Among the school tournaments won by the Chiefs are the Huntington, Massa- pequa, and the prestigious Baldwinsville Tournaments. Out of 14 weight classes the Chiefs took 8 first places. These winners are Lindsy and Charlie Biagini, Jim LaFlare, Ed Fiorvanti, Jim Jones, Steve De Gore, Jeff Wendelken, and Glen Arvinitis. Both Ed Fiorvanti and Lindsy Biagini took second place in the State Finals last year and they are hoping to improve this year.

The Cinderella Chiefs as the newspapers called them, surprised everyone, even themselves, by upsetting Roosevelt lNo. l in the countyl 68-67 to win the South Shore Championship. This year's Chiefs, who had the best record ever out of all Massapequa Basketball teams U9- 2l, were led by all-everything Fritz Rote. Outstanding performances were turned in all year by Tom Murphy and Jimmy Robinson. Tl'ieMChiefs' late season surge was led by Brian Baldinger and Ron Erdman, who along with Murphy were named to the South Shore all-tournament team.
