This year, Driftwood had a booth at the Senior Fair and sold handi- craft items, which were very popular. Prior to Thanksgiving, a folk concert was held, and this proved a success both artistical- ly and monetarily. As before, Driftwood owes its enthusiastic response to its hardworking edi- tor-in-chief, Audrey Nieson, and its creative staff. A new, and es- sentially experimental layout was introduced this year, making for more interesting reading.

This year, Chief Chat has ex- panded its journalistic scope. The newspaper has set a trend to clear away the cobwebs from moribund school clubs and or- ganizations. The staff is bringing our school and students into the pace of 1972. First, Chief Chat reactivated the Massapequa High School Quill and Scroll Chapter, thus joining the half million members who wear the gold badge of the society throughout the world. They have also renewed ties with such prominent journalistic or- ganizations as the Columbia Scholastic Press Association, Future Journalists of America, and the Nassau-Suffolk Scholas- tic Press Association. The key words this year have been contact and communica- tion. lt has only been through correspondence and rap-ses- sions with students all over the country that a meaningful under- standing of the year has been re- alized. we .- J ft!
