Under this point system four awards are given. The first of these is the numeral, which represents a total of one hundred and twenty-five points. The next award is the shield, which is equivalent to two hundred and fifty points. Following this is the block MM for four hundred points, and finally the Cold Key, the highest award. In order to obtain any of these honors, a girl must be an active and skillful participant in sports and must endeavor to gain a position on the class and honor teams. The awards were presented to the girls at the Sports Banquet which was held in June. Through these awards, a spirit of competition, sportsmanship, and fair-play is created. Miss Lenker 55 VERYONE out of the locker room! This is one of the many cries used by the members of the Massapequa High School Leaders Club. These girls were not only assistants to the Physical Education Department during classes, but were also kept busy by numerous projects designed to fur- ther sportsmanship and interest in athletics. In the fall the members solicited boosters for the football programs, thus aiding the Dads' Club. Spring brought the Sports Banquet and Sports- night, two highly successful projects sponsored by the Leaders. The candy sale at sports events was still another activity. These girls in blue, selected on their leadership and sports ability, were invaluable to the Physical Education Department and an outstanding group at Massapequa Hifth School.

Nt i ss Lenker UCH like the proverbial postman, neither rain, snow, sleet, hail, nor a losing tealn could flampen the enthusiastic spirit of our ehecrleawlers. These energetic girls were not even fazerl by long practice sessions, stiff muscles., and apathetic bleaeherites. Freezing in their short skirts at football games or sweltering in their uniforms during the basket- ball season in no way hampered their spirits. They even found time to compose new songs, cheers, and originate novel routines. This group also sponsored a dance on the last Saturday oi' the football season. This gala affair celebrated the clefeat of our traditional rival, the Wiantagh Vvarriors. Sophisticated Swing was chosen as the theme for this year's victory jubilee.
