as though flipping rhough the pages of a photo album, we look bock on the many memories and experiences we have shared with those we love, the times were not always that pleasant and not completely devoid of pain and suffering; but for the caring friends with whom we ' ve shared these memories, they may have been unbearable. time passes rapidly, a turn of the head and what was once present has now become the past, senior capping will, in a few hours, become part of our reservoir of memories over the past years, what is here and now will soon become there and then, someone once said, gather ye moments while ye may. the truth of these words penetrate our minds as we see each long anticipated event pass by. what makes each event memorable and meaningful? who would want to remember those tuesday nights of freshman year- studying , cramming for exams? those anxiety-ridden evenings were a hallmark for our first year here; yet it is strange that some of our fondest memories are from sharing those nights with friends who made the effort worthwhile, and, at rare times, even fun. and when have we eaten so much popcorn as on those tuesday nights? or who would want to remember that inevitable and long anticipated night before major meds where we had fifteen drug cards in our hands that we were expected to know the following morning? and Just when we wanted to tear up those cards and surrender, someone was always there to help and encourage, and moreso, to remind us that those before us had been in that same position. remember that night before men papers were due? anyone with typing skills could come into the dorm and make a mint in one night by reading the elevator walls, there was always at least one notice: person needed to type a paper, will pay ten dollars. actually, it was good for other students in the dorm that we didn ' t have men papers due at the same time. remember the night of the freshman end of the year party? neither da i, but the next morning sure was unforgettable i remembering the difference between a vegetable and a fruit was impossible enough, without being asked the difference between a and b vegetables. when time allows, and we have a few moments to reflect on the past two years, many memories come to mind, some remain repressed but still have an effect, nevertheless, a question we often ask ourselves after going through years is, have i changed? well, of course we ' ve changed, despite fervent effort to resist, we have changed, our lives have been touched by so many people, friends, instructors, patients, and we, in turn, have touched their lives, we bring with us, forever, intangible parts of those interactions, some more than others, and each part becames incorporated into our new self - our changed self. it ' s hard to get involved with people, to risk the feeling of caring for someone, knowing that in a matter of time, we will have to part, never to see each other again, if, however, we act on the belief that we became new persons with each person that we meet, these relationships become more spontaneous and more meaningful. yes, time passes, and present moments quickly become past experiences, freshman and junior years have held many opportunities for developing memories with friends and senior year holds promise of new memories, the last and most important being graduation, a long awaited dream finally realized. we will make the most of this year, gathering memories and experiences, sharing with instructars, patients, family, and friends, for we have come to realize that these are truly the times of our lives.
