Right in the from line trench. You know, I was the official translator for our group. That was in 1917, 1918 rather. After the War. I was over there in Paris. IVc been over there several times. And. ah. the Beaux Arts Studio in Paris. I love Paris. Naturally, we’d go to the Latin Quarter, you know. I would alway ' s go over by boat; never been on a plane, and I never intend to go on one. I’ve been on all the great liners: the Queen Mary . . . And then when I came back, I was interested in the theater. 1 was in a big show called Two Chin Charlie. I was with the dance group- oriental. you know. My parents didn’t want me to be in it. Then I went out West, to New ork, and so forth. Then I came back here to Bo.ston; I forget the name of the theater I was in. Anyway. I met some people who wanted me to model. Of course, my parents didn’t want me to do this either, you know. What s his name, Bill Robinson, taught me how to dance. He’s the same fellow who taught Shirley Temple. I was at the Humble and the Keith Theaters, and I met an artist who asked me to model . I got so interested in this modeling that I decided to make a business of it. There have been .so many people I ' ve posed for. I still like to pose, because I meet so many elegant people. It makes me feel younger. It keeps me going . . . this is my life. Thousands of people know me . . . young people ... the young faces . . . watching them draw and paint. And especially here at the Massachusetts College of Art. If I stopped modeling, it would be a quick exit from this earth. Looking at the young faces keeps me alive. I’m so much in love with this school; it’s my life s work just to come here and model. The best people in the world arc the artists. I imagine if I wasn ' t modeling. I’d meet my demise much sooner, and I ' m still modeling. I hope to see 90. I want people to like me, especially the artists. And you know, I hope to see, God’s willing, another ten years.” Mister Fisher Ralph Hamllion why not start with winter? a determined sprout pushing itself through semi-frozen soil announces spring, few hear. my mother would say; (mid muttering complaints of lost youth) you’re young! do things! — all that I never did — and one last leaf caresses earth and is gone. explore! take all that life offers — and with enthusiasm — spring is youth (of course!) why not start with winter? and end with spring. in memory of Evelina von Ladau 2J5S4 (DOWNTOWN) BOWSfR BONAID GRABOSKY BARBARA SfNCABAUGH JACQUES ANCEIA SCIARAFfA WARREN GOIDBERC .
