SPOR TS COSA NOS TRA PA CKERS VIKINGS CHARGERS RAIDERS The Cosa Nostra, champions and high scorers of the league, attributes its successs to the fact that it was a well balanced team. The offense, first in the league, was paced by the scoring punch of standout halfback Tony Noviello. The massive and agile defensive unit, led by Mike The Bear Gallucio, was able to contend the best that faced, thus alleviating the pressure on the offense. The Packers, surprise team of the league, captured the runnerup position in the final standings. The offense, which scored a total of 194 points, was spearheaded by the running ability of Bob Cunio and the line play of Mike Teixerira. The de- fensive team, one of the roughest seen this year, was centered around big Louis Gerwitz. The show position in the final tally was captured this year by the Vikings. Its im- pressive 6-2 record is a tribute to the spirit and determination possessed by the members of the team. The offense was sparked by the adept quarterbacking of Bob O'Leary and the sure-handed catching of the end Bob Dick. The defensive end of the assignments was well handled by John Mulligan and George Harden. Fourth place 'went to the Charges, along with the experience gained by an all- freshman team. The offense was anchored down by the play of Don Uva while Nick Bibby took care of the defensive chores. The sportsmanship and spirit dis- played by these boys gives promise of a strong and cohensive contender in the years to come. At the end of the season, the Raiders held down sole possession of fifth place. Their 2-7 record is not a true indication of the type of team this was. Their de- fense led by tackle Jim Leverone was one of the strongest, yet, they were among the leaders in the fewest points allowed category. Its offense spirited by the play of center Terry Duggan and backs Bob Howe and Devin Ryan, was one of thC strongest and most deceptive seen this year.
