Appropriately Greenyears ap- pears in the spring, the season of hope and promise. In a sense we offer a record of the academic year. For instance, pictures show subjects as they appear on a particular day. In a truer sense, however, a record is arti- ficial, it is a change which is real. Thus we offer not a book of memory, but a book of life as it is during the green years of growth, years made rich by the promise of things hoped for. 4,7 Q,....., ' ...........- in .., , rf El' -' f- -ff 'T if .2551 , Q5-' .. 3'-5 A '-'27 W 'Fifi' 'FWZ 5 lf' f 'r ,fx fha A ti jf ,iid--If r f. ixijgfyf: ,,.-2 ,- 'f ,-- 'A , 'A ff' ',Y,,f-' Z? ,ff- ff-f, ,, 'X Z' N-. f K ,mf 4 :id , af--' CONTENTS 'cGreen Years Dedication Faculty and Admimstration President's Address Graduates Class History Activities Underclassrnen SEE Students MBCC College Life I-g,,.-nv' .I X' 'M f ,---V A ,,- A .. . .. dfz- - -c - .f--- 'ff 'TIII + 5 5 ' ' H J,- S LL- -- ' ' :E,,f -:.x:-.- .... 714- ' .:4,, W -3. y' .,......- .1 ,,- I w ,A x1l0W -nm' W ,W Q am f 1 6 m li: YK f' be MW TLQWM--W , W. Then came the school elections which showed the birth of our true college spirit. A short time after the campaign, we all suffered the loss of our beloved President Kennedy as well as one of our wonderful faculty members, Dr. Parnell, which left a very somber note for all of us. Before long the talent of our class was introduced to all at the dramatic presenta- tion of Legend at also our class experienced its first college Hootenanny. The joyous brought with it the annual Christmas Dance and the was enjoyed by all. We'll never forget E539 QI? january of 1964 which our first college finals. fAfter five days of taking No-Doz, it was ygpggven that there were 33'Zn fewer students at- tending MBCCJ. The Council provides for social, cultural, athletic and academic activities through clubs, teams, dances, teas, and many other spe- cial activities, and allocates financial support for such activities and occasions. The Council tries to encourage initiative and leadership and provide the means for it to be effective. The Student Council is a local illustration of the democratic process at work. Prospective members present themselves to the student body in a pre-election campaign, students vote by secret ballot, the results are announced as the oflice holders. This duly elected body then has responsibility for providing leadership and direction for student life and assuring support for approved activities. f Ideally, the Council hopes that each student will participate in the activities which are provided and that he will find them a cherished part of his college life. The executive board of the student council elects an athletic chairman who in turn selects a committee. The committee is alotted a budget and is charged with providing a competitive intermural sports program for the student body. Schedules run from fall to spring and include football, basketball, hockey, bowling, tennis, golf, and softball. Chairman Robert Collins Committee Members Charles Pitzi Tony Noviello Maryjane Anderson Joseph Giardano John Templeton Ronald Regan Faoulgl Advisor Professor White CAPTAI S OF INTERMURAL SPORTS H rden Nick BibbY' HWY ' Joe GI' Football - George Close, George a ' ui ardano, Bob Portg Basketball - Bar1'Y Karas, Bob C0 ms' 73 SPOR TS COSA NOS TRA PA CKERS VIKINGS CHARGERS RAIDERS The Cosa Nostra, champions and high scorers of the league, attributes its successs to the fact that it was a well balanced team. The offense, first in the league, was paced by the scoring punch of standout halfback Tony Noviello. The massive and agile defensive unit, led by Mike The Bear Gallucio, was able to contend the best that faced, thus alleviating the pressure on the offense. The Packers, surprise team of the league, captured the runnerup position in the final standings. The offense, which scored a total of 194 points, was spearheaded by the running ability of Bob Cunio and the line play of Mike Teixerira. The de- fensive team, one of the roughest seen this year, was centered around big Louis Gerwitz. The show position in the final tally was captured this year by the Vikings. Its im- pressive 6-2 record is a tribute to the spirit and determination possessed by the members of the team. The offense was sparked by the adept quarterbacking of Bob O'Leary and the sure-handed catching of the end Bob Dick. The defensive end of the assignments was well handled by John Mulligan and George Harden. Fourth place 'went to the Charges, along with the experience gained by an all- freshman team. The offense was anchored down by the play of Don Uva while Nick Bibby took care of the defensive chores. The sportsmanship and spirit dis- played by these boys gives promise of a strong and cohensive contender in the years to come. At the end of the season, the Raiders held down sole possession of fifth place. Their 2-7 record is not a true indication of the type of team this was. Their de- fense led by tackle Jim Leverone was one of the strongest, yet, they were among the leaders in the fewest points allowed category. Its offense spirited by the play of center Terry Duggan and backs Bob Howe and Devin Ryan, was one of thC strongest and most deceptive seen this year. M , 4 S' 704, Z W 27 mmw.Weea QQMZJW 02116 May 24, 1965 TELEPHONE C0 To The Student Body: I . . I In September Community College These people were College has dared to be different in many 1961, the very first class entered Massachusetts Bay' with a brand new administration, faculty and staff. to help pioneer a new and unique kind of College. Our respects and has quickly Q established a reputation for excellence along with the development of new and vital areas. The results of one of our proudest inovations, namely our SEE Program, follow in this tradition. ln early l964, the College was faced outright a large number of applicants who to benefit from a college education. The space. Recognizing its obligation to the with the prospect of rejecting appeared to have a good chance reason was simply a lack of Community to devote its full energy and resources in providing educational opportunities for the area it serves, the College turned its attention to various ways of beating the Hlack-of-seatsn problem. A plan was devised whereby a certain number of applicants could be accepted as Degree Candidates by beginning their course work in the Summer Session and following it with one semester in the Evening Division. V0wing to the normal rate of withdrawals and dismissals after the first semester in the Day School, a sufficient number of spaces could be assured so that students under this plan could begin their second semester of their freshmen year in February and proceed ' normally to graduation with their class in the Day Division. Because the Summer and Evening Divisions represented the first steps for this group, the program was given the name of nSummer-Evening Entrancen or SEE program. And so, the College welcomes a new group of pioneers, the SEE students entering the Day Division. They have passed their first big test and they can be sure of a warm welcome from the entire family of Massachusetts Bay Community College.
