The Bond won numerous sectional awards in school competition, such os best auxiliary, best percussion, and best field commander. The highlight of the year was the MCHS Band's success or the King Cool Festival in West Frankfort, where they won the Grand Champion Award. Overall, the Bond brought home o total of seventeen trophies from competition throughout 1986-87. In addition ro competition, the Bond spent countless hours adding excitement ro Patriot athletic events and volunteering rime to provide music for local happenings, such os the dedication of the Superman statue or Superman Square and performing for area veterans' orgonizorions. The MCHS Marching Patriots look forward ro another busy year during 1987-88 and will be compering throughout Southern Illinois os well os providing music for Patriot athletic events. 125
