Commentator which is in its nineteenth year of publication. The school paper was awarded fourth place in Mimeographed Senior High Newspapers among schools with an enrollment between 251 - 500, by the Pennsylvania School Press Association at its 25th Anni- versary Convention held at Allentown, Pa., on November 10th and 11th, 1950. The Certificate of Award is on display in the home room of Edith Nlagalotti, adviser of the school paper. janet Frankhouser is the Editor-in-Chief as well as the Art Editor of the present staff of the M.H.S. To seek, to find, to show, is the Tri-Hi-Y motto. Under the guidance of Mrs. Nieman, they build healthy bodies, and develop courage and initiative while learning tumbling. Stunts encourage the individual to make the most of his ability. This year they have also built a storage room for band uniforms, made Kindergarten repairs. and assisted with general repairs The Home Economics Club acquaints individuals with different crafts and gives them an opportunity to develop skill in Whatever craft they choose. Fifty other young musicians are currently being trained to replace those who drop out or graduate. The first semester band work is planned for performance and maneuvers at football games and half time exhibi- tions. The second semester is devoted to preparation for the Annual Band Concert in M arch. Janice Nagy, the diminutive Majorette Mascot this year, is a featured attraction at all performances. Twenty-two girls are currently re- hearsing to become Nlajorettes. Out of these, ten will be chosen as replacements. They meet daily for the purpose of studying every phase of speech technique. This study is integrated with the Forensic Activities by those who chose to become contestants. This work gives them practical experience in typing, mimeographing, and hectographing. Through their activities this year, they have pur- chased 32 noise-resistant, felt typewriter pads. The .luoior Commerical Club The junior Commercial Club consists of 30 Sophomore and junior Commercial students. Spelling, Spelling Matches, Business Activities, Discussions, Manners, etc., provide a busy period every Tuesday for these future careerists. Max Tinti scored the only touchdown from the one yard line. MASONTOWN vs GLASSPORT The largest crowd of the season saw Masontown win over Glass- port with a 12-6 score at Mason- town. Glassport scored first when Ickiewicz scored from the five yard line. Seconds later, fol- lowing the kickoff, Art Pastor swept around left end and Went 66 yards to tie the score at 6-6. In the third period, Joe Dufala broke loose and scampered 71 yards for the second winning touchdown. MASONTOWN vs GEORGES After three periods of scoreless football, Art Pastor connected on -a long pass to joe Dufala, to make it five in a row for the Gunners and a 6-0 verdict over Georges. MASONTOWN vs CENTERVILLE After a scoreless first half, Art Pastor put on his running shoes and the Gunners went on to win 13-0. Both touchdowns came in the third period. 24 T pi s Q MASONTOWN vs GERMAN Masontown was dropped from the undefeated list by German with a score of 14-6. After the scoreless first half, German's full- back, Happy Ford, broke loose and went 78 yards to put Ger- man ahead 7-0. After the kickoff, with Art Pastor doing most of the carrying, the Gunners drove 50 yards with Max Tinti hitting pay dirt from the 3 yard line. Germanis last touchdown came as a result of a Gunner fumble back on their own 18 yard line. MASONTOWN vs CARMIGHAELS Ed Merti intercepted a Car- michaels pass on their 40 yard line and ran it back to the 22. After 5 running plays, Pastor took it over for the 7-0 victory. CLGIWLIO5 MASONTOWN vs M APLETONVN Masontown walloped Maple- town, 33-0 at Masoutown, there- by remaining in the Glass B race. joe Dufala raced 61 yards for the first score. Art Pastor scored again from the 17 to give the Gunners a 19-0 lead in the first half. MASONTOWN vs POINT MARION After a 3 game layoff due to injury, Max Tinti put on a scor- ing show at Point Marion, by scoring the only two touch- downs, and assuring another victory for the Gunners 13-0. MASONTOWN VS EAST BETH The Gunners wasted little time in this game. After driving 74 yards, joe Dufala went over from the 4 yard line. Max Tinti scored the second touchdown after Rich Sokol intercepted an East Beth pass on their 6 yard line. The last touchdown was scored by Dufala on a reverse in the final period-the score 18-0. MASONTOWN vs ASPINWALL This game played at Clairton for the Class B Championship went to the Gunners with a score of 12-6. Aspinwall scored first when Haberman scored from the 5 yard line. In the second period, Art Pastors pass to Leroy Glover was good for a touchdown. The halftime score was 6-6.
