During the year the seventh grade worked on common and decimal fractionsg rounding off and estimatingg per centg units of measureg squares and square rootsg anglesg ratio: graphsg areasg profit and loss and numerous other topics. Mothemotics This eighth grade MATHEMATICS class is discussing finding board feet of lumber. IS THE SQUARE ROOT OF 2 RATIONAL? Problems of this and other types were handles during the year in the ninth grade ALGEBRA classes. CBy the way - if anyone is interested - the explanation below proves that it is not rational.J GEOMETHY students, 9A, constructing a tangent to a circle from a point outside the circle. This was the first year for such a class at Mason.

GERMAN students and teacher Robert Ehrenhelm are reading and talking in German. During the first- year course they concen- trated on grammar and vocabulary. Lonquoqee PRE-LANGUAGE students listen sto, learn and practice with a French record. During the year these classes studied one quarter each of Latin, German, French and Spanish. First - Year SPANISH Class Representatives leaving the Ecuadorian 'Rio Guayas while it was docked at a Tacoma port. An opportunity to visit and speak with Latin Americans came with the captain's invitation to 'come aboard? 47
