In the terrific competition which these teams meet over the state the Mason boys had an excellent season, compiling the best record for the Mason chapter since 1949. Between 800 and 900 teams are now competing annually over the state. Snapshots from the F. F, A. Rodeo, This is one of the winners at the Livestock Show. Another winner at the Livestock Show. Dear Branding Iron Reader: The 1950-1957 School Year is history - with its classes, many meetings, concerts , plays, intramural contests and interscholastic e v en ts now memories, To a great degree scores, rank- ings, grades, successes and failures will soon he forgotten . But during the year, as in other school years, the steady, long-continued process of character developing was going on. In large measure, within each Mason lligh School stu- dent, the struggle was real in 1950-1957, whether miserable fa il ure or glorious victory will result in days, perhaps many years hence, ol important decisions, g re at sorrow or strong temptation, We trust that during this school year firm purposes were maintained in terms of wholesome ideals as well as in e d uc a t ion al pursuits. This word from an unknown author: Ideals are like stars, you will not succeed in touching them with your hands, but like the seafaring man on the open sea, you choose them as yotu' guid e s, and, following them, you reach yotu' destiny. Best wishes, 56 E. R. Sharpe Superintendent 'Y 'al-JM., f ADMI ISTRATIO It is my hope that this Branding Iron will bring back memories of the happiest days of your life. At the Banquet Mixed up cheerleaders' SENIOR CLASS PROPHECY When I received my May 1978 issue of T. V. Lineup, I was surprised to find the picture of Lougenia on the cover. She's a model for the Built-Rite-Aggicy now. Inside was an article about the former Ann Martin who got a break playing opposite Elvis Presley a few years ago and who has been in the heames ever since. Speaking of Elvis, it seems as though he has been replaced by a rising new team, the Country Gentle- men. You probably remember them as Kelly Kothmann and Jimmy Underwood. They are touring the country with Carl Martin's sensational jazz band. Martha is standing up very well under the strain of Elvis's re- tirement. Another girl from this talented class is Mary Lanell, who has become a fiery modern dancer and actress. Kathleen found that it is not brains but beauty that counts, so she has replaced Jayne Mansfield. The other day I received a letter from Glowanda, who is a successful stenographer--by successful, I mean that she is one day ahead of everyone else. She wrote that Joanne is a world tour director of the same firm. Joanne gained her knowledge from following her husband around the world. From Glowanda, I also learned that Wayne Hofmann is commander-in-chief of the United Nations Forces. Dick Hahn, as you may know, is special reports man to Congress for Senator Bill Johnson. iv Incidentally,Dick reported that Max Burnett, the jogy, has introduced a new sport-draft horse racing. The former Ann Bielfeldt now opeg a reducing salon. Scotty Black has a job as an octapus trainer, it didn't surprise me much though. I always thought that Scott could teach an octapus a few tricks. Ted Polk has become a tobacco auctioneer and the modest Pat Reardon, who couldn't say nog a cosmetics salesman. Helping him sell shampoo is Connie Cunningham, mse lustrious hair is a living example of his product's perfection. Last fall Elizabeth Browne, the first woman football coach, coached the United States number one team. The former Frances Davenport has become a food taster in Harold I-loerster's canning factory. Also in business is the former Mary Virginia Jennings who owns half interest in the International Harvester Company in Brady. Deann Whitaker writes advice to the lovelorn in Mortimer Kothmann's newspaper. On the side- line they run a lonely hearts club. Another writer is Yvonne Kothmann, who writes books on etiquette. The former Ida Ann Bratton recently became the fashion editor for the magazine, When You Pass Sixty. On the street, I met Mr. and Mrs. Lee Roy Loeffler followed by age 18, age 15, age 13, age ll, and age 7. Age 13 is, of course, finishing sevem g-Xie work under the direction of Lowell Nixon. Mr. Loeffler in- formed me that Don Metzger is retiring after a glorious career in the rodeo. Our old friend Linna Maddox directs a kindergarten for teenage juvenile delinquents. Dora Mae is still dodging jobs. Mary Fay Wilson has argued a politician into marryin-Erjnother politician making news is prohi- bitionist, gl Keith. Congressman Keith's greatest support is derived from Evelyn Spaeth- who is destined to become-Ke world's most notorious bootlegger. Kay Sherwood is a Concert pianist for the Philharmonic Orchestra and Eileen Bauer has risen to fame playing the part of an indiscreet maid in the latest Broadway hit. Larry Davis is a renowned evangelist in Possum Hollow. From the Su-rpo-Burpo Chemical Plant a dis- astrous explosion occurred. It seems that one of Charles Eckert's experiments turned out a flop as in high school, so also as in high school, Charles sneaked over to Larry Dannheim to learn the results. A news flash has just come over T. V. that Fred Jordan has won the Indianapolis 500 in his famed Chev- rolet. l This news flash was made by news commentator, Charles McDougall. He signed off as usual with the words See You Later, Alligator. Whatever it was it wasn'tvery funny. 'WT' Is this a letter from a secret love, or are you studying for a test? There's an advantage to breaking a leg. . . eh Bobby? 'IIIII 1y1'1 -sunllljg ,+.,4- iii 11' Ill Q Oo Q9 '111' Q B X A M J J' .Y Ve ' Q -.aan . 72' ' , , , if LQ 'fkf 443 .
